Here is how to organise three days between heritage, beach and mountain, without falling into the tourist-trap circuits.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"town\">The colonial centre of Trinidad<\/h2>\n<p>The historic heart, UNESCO-listed, is best explored on foot with no fixed plan. The <strong>Plaza Mayor<\/strong> is its centre, ringed by fine mansions turned museums. For the view, climb the bell tower of the <strong>San Francisco convent<\/strong> (the Museo de la Lucha Contra Bandidos): it is the town&#8217;s postcard shot, with tiled roofs and mountains behind.<\/p>\n<p>My tip: get up early. Failing that, a taxi or a bike will do.
